‘Procaffeinating’ [pro-kaf-e-nate-ing] noun :
The tendency to not start anything until you’ve had a cup of coffee.
Nothing makes me happier in the morning than a fresh cup of coffee and I find the process and smell of making a freshly brewed coffee is something very relaxing.
I am definitely a "hot americano with a splash of milk" kind of person but every now and then, an iced coffee really hits the spot! Maybe you are a bit more adventurous than me and like to add different flavours? Whatever your choice, I am a firm believer that, coffee time is the best time. Having that moment to myself first thing in the morning can really set me up for the rest of the day, whatever it may bring.
We are huge coffee lovers at Piglet in Bed and during the past few months we have enjoyed experimenting with different flavours and combinations. He is one of our favourite recipes that we wanted to share with you.
If you are lucky and live somewhere hot then this iced coffee might be your new morning essential. However for those of us stuck on these temperate shores for the time being, who says you can’t enjoy it too? And really, what could be better than coffee and chocolate? When you combine them, they are a match made in heaven. Espresso, milk and chocolate, with a few added extras for a bit of luxury, and you have the perfect balance of sweet and strong for your morning caffeine hit.
We’re convinced our iced latte recipe will beat all the coffees you used to buy, so much so that you wont want to spend that money again! And what makes this recipe extra special is the addition of cinnamon and the drizzle of honey. And if you are up for a bit of experimenting, switch the chocolate shavings for a sprinkling of cacao nibs for an added boost of morning antioxidants.
