As the saying goes, good things come in threes. So not long after we opened the doors to our first and second stores, it was time to welcome a third boutique to the Piglet in Bed family. We heard on the grapevine that a place was opening up in the historic spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent, and immediately knew it was the perfect fit.
Located at number 51 on the High Street you can’t miss our peachy pink shopfront. The shop sits right in the middle of a conservation area, so we were over the moon when the local planning office gave us the go ahead on this vibrant colour.
You’ll find us nestled among some bigger, well-known retailers as well as plenty of great independent stores (Juliets café across the road has the best cakes in town!). Continue down the street and you’ll reach the famous ‘Pantiles’ – an elegant colonnaded walkway that’s now home to local shops, art galleries and restaurants.
The store itself won us over with its unique charm. The impressive Georgian frontage has big windows perfect for showcasing our gorgeous bedding, and despite being our smallest store to date at only 800 square feet, the high ceilings give an amazing feeling of space.
Through a curved arch towards the back of the store, you’ll find our cosy nook. Flooded with light from the three windows, we chose to colour drench this area to amp up the homey vibes, using a limewash effect paint on both the walls and ceiling in a warm, neutral tone.
All our Piglet in Bed boutiques have their own unique personality, and our Tunbridge Wells store is no different. We redesigned the flow of the space, adding a beautiful oval table by the window where we can sit with customers to share interiors advice over a flat white or cup or tea.
Again, we sourced lots of vintage furniture for the store from antique shops and reclamation yards, and you’ll find our signature swatch board created from offcuts of our linen fabrics.
We have loved meeting our wonderful customers in our Tunbridge Wells store already, and can’t wait to welcome many more.
